1. Introduction

Welcome to Uncharted Stars. Since our founding in 2010, we have been committed to the art of independent design — crafting original, handmade Lolita fashion with deliberate attention to detail and an unwavering respect for the people who wear our creations. That same spirit of care and craftsmanship extends to how we handle your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and protected, and the rights you hold as an individual. It applies to all personal data processed through our website, online store, and any direct communications with our team.

This policy has been prepared in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you have any questions, please contact us at privacy@unchartedstars.com.

Identity Data

Your full name, username or display name, and date of birth if provided voluntarily.

Contact Data

Email address, telephone number, billing address, and shipping address.

Financial Data

Payment method type and the last four digits of your card, processed securely via our third-party payment gateway. We do not store full card numbers.

We collect this data when you create an account, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, use our website, or contact us directly. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 16 without verifiable parental consent.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so. The purposes for which we process your data include:

  • Order fulfilment: To process and deliver your purchase, manage returns or exchanges, and send transactional communications such as order confirmations and shipping notifications.
  • Payment processing: To facilitate secure payment transactions through our third-party payment gateway partners, who are independently bound by PCI-DSS standards.
  • Customer support: To respond to your enquiries, resolve issues, and maintain records of our communications to improve your experience.
  • Account management: To create and maintain your customer account, including saved addresses and order history.
  • Personalised experience: To tailor product recommendations, content, and marketing communications to your preferences and purchase history, where you have given consent.
  • Marketing communications: To send newsletters, new collection announcements, and exclusive offers — only where you have opted in. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal compliance: To meet our obligations under applicable tax, consumer protection, and financial regulations.
  • Fraud prevention and security: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activity.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties, nor will we use it for purposes that are incompatible with the reasons for which it was collected.

4. Data Security

The security of your personal information is a matter we take seriously at Uncharted Stars. We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, alteration, or disclosure.

SSL Encryption
All data transmitted between your browser and our website is encrypted using industry-standard SSL/TLS technology. Look for the padlock icon in your browser's address bar to confirm a secure connection is active.
No Full Card Storage
Uncharted Stars does not store your full credit or debit card number on our servers. All payment data is handled directly by our certified payment gateway partner, which operates under PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance — the highest standard in the industry.

We limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, and third-party service providers who have a legitimate business need to process it. All such parties are subject to confidentiality obligations. In the unfortunate event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority without undue delay, as required by law.

Depending on your location, you may have a number of legal rights in relation to the personal data we hold about you. These rights are summarised below.
